Spaceflight Orchestra - An Orchestra of Remixes Vol.2

Spaceflight Orchestra - An Orchestra of Remixes, Volume Two - Black BridgeBlack Bridge’s finest producers and friends break down and remix their favorite Spaceflight Orchestra tracks.  First up is a remix by Germany’s rising star of funk, Quincy Jointz. Qunicy is widely known as one half of the duo, Geriba, as well as extensive remix work for the top tier of funk breakbeat artists including work on a wide variety of labels including Fort Knox, Timewarp, and Aniligital. This is a mellow groove down happy times lane with lilting cowbell and mellow tron stabs. Sprinkles of horn’s and nice trippy breakdowns round out the dub synths on this lazy joint.

Matt Prehn - We're All Funky EP - Headtunes

Matt Prehn - We're All Funky EP - Headtunes - HTD008Boston’s Headtunes Recordings turn to one of the world’s best, yet under-rated, hotbeds of deep house music, South Africa, for the eighth release in their digital-only series.  Specifically, they turn to Matt Prehn from Cape Town, perhaps best known for being a member of live band Bang Bang.  As the EP title suggests the tracks here fall firmly into the funk category and will appeal to fans of bumping East Midlands house in the vein of Inland Knights, Jay West and Da Sunlounge.  Both Jazzy Eyewear and Leo Portela remix ‘Boom Boom Bye’ taking it into deep and dubby territory while retaining the bump factor.

Auger - Flow EP - SP Recordings

Auger - Flow EP - SP RecordingsI just listened to Auger's Flow EP. I like it so I should share it with you guys. The EP contains three cuts of quality deepness. Dusty Hooters is a superb atmospheric affair with drive and deep punchy beats. Back to the Congo brings a percussive workout laced with sensual chords. Aquiesse is a deep moody number with a classic B line and heavy, spooky chords that contrast with smooth melodic sound scapes. There are no "filler" tracks on the release.

Cubik & Origami - Bought & Sold - Pristmatix Tracks

Cubik & Origami - Bought & Sold - Pristmatix Tracks - PRM027Yet another quality release from Prismatic Tracks, fantastic duo Cubik & Origami delivers great single Bought & Sold and there is 7 different version. Two guys from San Francisco, a pile of instruments, and a deep love of dirty, neon-hued music - that's been the Cubik & Origami story since 2001. Fans of Prismatic Tracks will already know of Origami’s collaborations with Andrew Phelan, but this is his first production work with Cubik for their hometown label. The result is a unique blend of swaggering, chunky tech house, brimming with live textures and deceptively catchy vocals. A very tidy remix package comes courtesy of the eccentric Q-Burns Abstract Message, Lost My Dog’s Pete Dafeet, Latvian wonderkid Artie Flexs and Origami’s alter ego George Cochrane.

Triple Threat - Gone! - 3345 Music

Triple Threat - Gone! - 3345 Music - TTFF 33011This track is released in December 2009. Story of the Song - The main riff was laying around for a while and being worked as a downtempo track. Late one night the Triple Threat got a feeling for the rhythm and busted out the bass guitar. A funky bass line flowed and the whole thing was Gone - in a new direction but with a hot vibe. Darren's popped and slapped bass was added with a Jimmy Smith style organ vibe played by C and it feel together - Gone like the a.m. happening! J Caprice and DJ FM were hit up for remixes, each providing their style's take on the groove and a Gone EP was born. Download mp3 here

Short Bus Kids - He's On The Prowl EP - Bounce House - BHEP19Short Bus Kids and Bounce House Recordings are back and ready to kick off 2010 with an EP of the deep, funky, jacking, and techy house goodness that they have made a name for. The duo of DK Watts and Lance Leber, based in Amsterdam and San Francisco respectively, have had a fantastic 2009 with the highlight being an article in iDJ which tipped them as ‘The Month’s Hottest Underground Talent’ and stated they are “…some of the best current providers of bumpin’, west-coast-meets east Midlands deep house…”. And if the ‘He’s On The Prowl EP’ is anything to go by, 2010 is looking even better already! Three tracks by the Kids are accompanied by ‘Say No’ on which DK Watts again uses his relocation to Amsterdam to team up with Mike L, a highly regarded member of the city’s dance music scene and recent collaborator with the SBKs on ‘Things Are Changing’.
