Soul Jazz are issuing this super-rare deep jazz album from the Lloyd McNeill Quartet. This album was originally released by flute player Lloyd McNeill on his own private-press Asha Recording Company in Washington, DC in 1969 (30 years ago!) and only 1000 copies were ever pressed and ‘Asha’ has been a serious collector’s deep jazz album ever since. African-American flute player Lloyd McNeill’s self-distributed record label ran from 1968 – 73. Lloyd McNeill is a multidisciplinary artist – a painter who lived in Paris in 1965 and was a friend of Picasso, a musician who has worked with Nina Simone, Nana Vasconceles, Ron Carter, Cecil McBee and many more and a music anthropologist, poet and teacher.

GOGO Music continues its powerful output with this gospel inspired vocal tune by Zano entitled “My Story” and brings you, next to the fine Original, 4 hot Ralf GUM remixes of it. Zano always had an unmistakable passion for the performing arts and became one of the most sought after musicians even before he finished his Diploma in the South African performing arts industry. He’s worked with some of South Africa’s best talent, such as Black Coffee, Dj Christos, Vinni Da Vinci, Shana, Phumeza … the list goes on and on … Although all these people played a major role in shaping Zano’s career, he still credits one artist for his big break in the music industry, Lebo Mathosa. Versatility, discipline, and commitment are what drives this young man towards a successful long-term career in the entertainment industry.

Giano Stella In The Starlight

Giano comes back to Alphabet with a hot disco number, 'Stella In The Starlight', that embodies the 90’s 'French House' movement. The main mix is just what you need to pick the floor up and throw them into a blend of disco and jazzy bliss. The male and female vocals play off each other perfectly. Sleazy McQueen takes things in a more serious and mature direction that walks along the border of 'Cosmic Disco' and 'Deep New York'. If Danny Krivit and Metro Area hooked up and had a baby, this might be just the type of thing their offspring would compose. Dave Allison, label boss of Kinjo Music, follows a slo-mo deep disco vibe that really pulls the whole single together. Like Sleazy, a more mature sound with lush filter sweeps and an infectious deep groove prevail.
