Paper Recordings continues to unearth new talent from that disco mecca…..Norway!.Hot on the heels of Proviant Audio is The Treatment, another producer with all things disco running through his Scandinavian veins.Sigurd Cisco first appeared on A Sound of Norway last year with the slow tripped out jam that was Elevators.Since then he has been working with Ralph Myerz and honing his sound.
On & On is his first full EP on Paper and it comes with a set of mixes that cover all bases. The original takes a sample and rides it out in to deep disco waters, coming on like the offspring of Kraak & Smaak and Rub n’ Tug. Ralph Myerz keeps things deep but adds an NRG bass line plus analogue synths and stabs that weave and build up to an extended break before cutting back to the 4/4 and a sublime slice of house music.
Keyboy’s Leca also goes deep house with a mix that sparkles with originality and a Scandinavian sense of fun.It has a techy bass holding things down but bobs and weaves its way around synth keys with a mix that never stays still for a minute.Proviant Audio again presents mix that’s show off his chops and musical sophistication that demonstrates why he’s getting props from all corners. It’s a take of two halves that rides a groove before taking things down a notch in to jazzier waters with a pads, wandering bass, dreamy keys, horn stabs and percussion.
Mowgli rounds off the package nicely with a mix that takes us into 4/4 territory with a nice added piano line for the house heads.
