Cubik & Origami - Bought & Sold - Pristmatix Tracks - PRM027Yet another quality release from Prismatic Tracks, fantastic duo Cubik & Origami delivers great single Bought & Sold and there is 7 different version. Two guys from San Francisco, a pile of instruments, and a deep love of dirty, neon-hued music - that's been the Cubik & Origami story since 2001. Fans of Prismatic Tracks will already know of Origami’s collaborations with Andrew Phelan, but this is his first production work with Cubik for their hometown label. The result is a unique blend of swaggering, chunky tech house, brimming with live textures and deceptively catchy vocals. A very tidy remix package comes courtesy of the eccentric Q-Burns Abstract Message, Lost My Dog’s Pete Dafeet, Latvian wonderkid Artie Flexs and Origami’s alter ego George Cochrane.

Cubik & Origami ShadowsOriginally known for the slow-burning downtempo funk of their eponymous debut on Wide Hive Records, and an intricate beatbox/instrumental EP in 2007, Cubik & Origami then broadened their outlook, quilting electro, IDM and indie rock details into their second full length, ‘Slept In On Doomsday’. The resulting record drew comparisons to such disparate acts as Jamie Lidell, Danger Mouse and The Album Leaf. Skilled musicians, producers and house enthusiasts, now the duo are turning their attention in a 4/4 direction. Playing live, Cubik & Origami remix their music in real time and weave in live vocals, bass, drums, and keyboards, to the delight of basement revellers and forest creatures alike.

Q-Burns Abstract Message heads up the remixes. In the realm of dance music there are few producers who thrive on blurring the boundary between eclectic experimenter and populist ass-shaker as much as Michael Donaldson. Equally adept at covering the likes of Krautrock legends Faust or dropping his favorite chunky house grooves into the mix, Q-Burns’ devotion to the funk consistently shines through on a host of labels far too long to mention.

Pete Dafeet is co-owner of Lost My Dog Records and also the man behind digital label Southside Shuffle. With five years of productions to his name on labels including Toolroom, Robsoul, Shaboom and Detour, along with remixes of Jay Tripwire, Jake Island and No Assembly Firm, the London based producer has established himself as a solid member of the house music community.

Latvian newcomer Artie Flexs made an instant impact when his debut EP, for Lost My Dog, was awarded Mixmag’s ‘House Tune Of The Month’ in September 2009. Further praise arrived from iDJ and DMC Update, marking the 19 year old out as one to watch. Artie’s second EP has just been released to similar acclaim and as well as remixing Latenight Society and Cubik & Origami, he has an album scheduled for early 2010.
